Now in my fourteenth year as a Governor of Honywood Community Science School I’ve been privileged to play a part in the exciting journey that the school has taken over this time. Initially as a Parent Governor and subsequently as an appointed Governor I have had two terms as Chair of Finance and Personnel and in 2016 became Vice-Chair.
I grew up in Coggeshall and after a decade in London my wife and I returned to the town with our young sons nineteen years ago. Both my sons have passed through Honywood and gone on to University. My wife is a teacher at St. Peter’s C of E Primary School.
I’m an IT professional and currently act as Group Chief Information Officer for a private equity backed collection of fifteen businesses which is varied and challenging. In addition to IT I have an interest in business in general and have a Masters in Business Administration which I gained from the Open University Business School in 2002.

I have been involved with Honywood School since moving to Coggeshall with my young family in 1976. From attending the School’s adult evening classes, working as a mid-day assistant, Headteacher’s secretary and community education tutor, through to becoming a parent governor and then Chair of the Governing Body for 16 years, I have enjoyed and benefited so much from what Honywood has to offer.
My three children attended the School, and now my 4 grandchildren are all enjoying learning at Honywood too. I am proud that by being a governor for over 34 years I have contributed to the development of a wonderful educational opportunity for young people in the area.
My professional background is in banking, magistrates’ courts and solicitors but since having a family I concentrated on education and I eventually retired as senior lecturer and Head of School for two local Colleges of Further Education.
All this experience has, I hope, enabled me to contribute to the governance of the School in a positive and constructive way. I believe, passionately, that giving young people the opportunity to experience a first-class education in a safe and supportive environment is a matter of paramount importance.

As an education journalist, I visit many schools all around the country – and Honywood was one of my favourites long before we chose to send our own sons there in 2016. I admire its rich curriculum and its innovative, learner-led approach, which I truly believe not only supports students towards academic achievement, but also develops them as confident, empathetic and self-motivated individuals, capable of managing their own learning, for life. I also love how the school places such great value on happiness – a priority which can all too easily be lost in today’s high-pressured educational environment.
I am delighted to have been able to join the governing body here; exciting times lie ahead for Honywood, and I’m looking forward to working with my fellow governors, and with the staff and leaders at the school, in order to help continue its story of success.

I am a newly appointed Parent Governor at Honywood Community Science School; I have two sons currently at the school, and live in the nearby village of Stisted. I feel very honoured to be able to serve as a governor at Honywood.
I work in HR and specialise in psychometrics, strategy and culture change. I hope that my experience brings a broad perspective of education and an understanding of key issues in managing priorities and continuing to achieve success.

My family and I moved to Coggeshall from east London nearly five years ago, having made the decision that our children deserved a better way of life. We took them out of their school on the Friday and they started at the local junior school on the Monday.
My husband and I have continued to work in London, Mat as a broker in the City and me working for Trinity Mirror Newspapers in Canary Wharf.
I was keen to become more involved with Honywood and was delighted when I got the position of parent governor. It has given me such an insight to the workings of a passionate, driven and happy school.
I have two children who currently attend Honywood.

I’ve lived in Coggeshall for almost 5 years, having moved from Feering because my partner was too tall for the house I was living in! My daughter went to Honywood School and on to Exeter University where she gained a 1 st in Psychology. I managed a successful business centre for 10 years and am now self-employed working with small local businesses; I also undertake finance and admin work for the Coggeshall Neighbourhood Plan. I have a Masters in Business Administration and my business background is broadly in banking/finance, customer relationship management, property management and administration – skills that will hopefully stand me in good stead in my new role as a Governor at Honywood School. I am looking forward to the challenge and working with my new colleagues in supporting the learning experience for children at the school.

I joined Honywood in September 2009 as a trainee science teacher and have never left since. In my time at Honywood I have filled several different roles including being an SLE in Science, Cohort Leader and Cohort 6 Leader between 2012 and 2016. Currently I am an Assistant Head at Honywood School. In my role as Assistant Head I have responsibility for Safeguarding, the schools Family Learning Team and our current Cohort 7 (intake 2018) among other responsibilities.
Outside of school I enjoy playing football and supporting my home team – the mighty Middlesbrough.
