Family Learning Team

The Family Learning Team is led by Kerry Nichols, also the Designated Safeguarding Lead for the school. The team consists of four experienced and knowledgeable staff who are accessible to all learners to approach in confidence.

Honywood School recognises that learners may face a range of barriers to learning to achieve their educational and developmental potential and aims to provide a range of strategies and specialised support at the individual, group and multi agency level.

We aim to support our learner’s social, emotional and mental wellbeing, providing an atmosphere in which concerns and difficulties can be discussed in a confidential and supportive way. We provide learners with an opportunity to talk about emotions and feelings, support the development of self-help strategies and mental resilience in order to be able to manage future difficult situations.

Honywood School works in partnership with external statutory and non-statutory agencies to identify specialist support and intervention for learners where appropriate. Services may include Health and Children’s Social Care, EWMHS (Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Service), Kids Inspire and the Police.
